Seher organised Bhakti Utsav, a three-day musical extravaganza of devotional music at Nehru Park.The three day event began with KM Vasudevan Namboothiri and ON Damodaran Namboothiri performing the Rig-Vedic chanting followed by Bhuvanesh Komkali who specialises in bhajans of Tukaram. This was followed by Goraknath bhajans by Dera Khan Manganiars and gurbani by Sarabjeet Singh Rangila.
Panni Kanya Mahavidyalaya performed Vedic chanting and Aditi Upadhyay presented devotional bandishes on Krishna on the second day.
Shafi Mohammad Faqir presented songs of Kabir. The third day showcased Sam Veda chanting by Sreejith Namboothiri MN Bhavadas KS and Devadas KS. Chief minister Sheila Dikshit and MP Mani Shanker Iyer graced the occasion. Other guests included designer Sumant Jaikrishan, and artist Harshvardhan. Also present was PK Tripathi, chief secretary of Delhi.
Said Sanjeev Bhargava, festival director, “Over the years, Bhakti Utsav has been established as one of India’s most prestigious music festivals. Artists from all across the Indian subcontinent were invited to perform. This year, we had a line up of 14 artistes from all over India and Pakistan, all specialising in various traditions, both popular and niche.”
